We just finished our Day Out With Thomas the Train for the first time in St. Thomas, Ontario. Aydin had a lot of fun! If you’re thinking to come to Ontario, Canada with your little ones, I highly recommend to check it out!
We purchased the ticket online on ticketweb.ca . We bought them a week before the event, but you can select the date & time that works for you and book tickets anytime online. For those of you who plan to go see Thomas the Train, this attraction only runs in the summer months so please plan ahead to not miss out on it. I also recommend to book afternoon ride sessions because it seem to be less busy during afternoon hours.
It took us about 2 hours to get to the St. Thomas Elgin Memorial Centre from where we live; we enjoyed the drive because of the beautiful scenery on the way there. Depending on where you will be coming from, make sure you book the tickets according to your expected travel time while keeping in mind the traffic conditions, etc. They also ask you to be there at least an hour prior to your train ride session so you have time to pick up the tickets at the door and enjoy other activities on site. You then have to be at the boarding area 15 minutes prior to departure time of Thomas the Train. The elderly people wearing shirts marked “CREW” who serve you on site made our experience even more pleasant. They were so helpful and friendly, not to mention how much of a relaxed and good mood they were in. :))
It is definitely worth the price if your little one is a big fan of Thomas. The train ride itself was about 20 mins (Of course throughout the ride we got all the Thomas songs). Even though the train ride was short and sweet, you can also get to see the people whose homes were along the tracks and they would be outside waving to the excited children and thrilled parents on the train as we passed. When Thomas crossed the roads, the traffic stopped and people stepped out of their vehicles and took picture while waving. St. Thomas was such a welcoming and friendly town! We loved it!!❤️
As the little ones complete their ride, they each get “JR Engineer” certificate. Once you finish the train ride and get off the Thomas, you will get an opportunity to take enough photos with Thomas the train and Mr. Topham Hatt while the train waits for the next departure session for the next group. If you don’t have your own camera or just want a more professional picture taken, there is a photo crew on site just like any other tourist attractions. You get a scanned card with code and go online to purchase your photos.
There were also some other activities for the kids to do such as bouncy castles, bubble making stations, Thomas the train toy sets, PlasmaCar riding zone, and other activities which were all included in your admission. There were also food and ice-cream vendors on site if you don’t feel like leaving site to grab food.
Again, I want to mention that the staff are mostly seniors and they were amazingly friendly and efficient which made our trip even more memorable!
Overall, our family trip to see Thomas was very successful! It was even more special for our little Aydin and I am sure if you bring your Thomas-loving child, you won’t be disappointed! It was well worth it to see Aydin’s face when he saw the “real” Thomas!
I hope this blog gave you more detail about how you future Thomas trip can be and what you can expect. Let me know, in the comment box down below, if this blog helped you!
