It is important to talk about mistakes and discuss how not to let mistakes hold one back. It is also important to learn from them and keep going forward.
“It’s okay to not be perfect. It’s okay to make mistakes. It’s okay to do something that you wish you hadn’t done, because if we don’t do those things we never grow.” – Dawn Stanyon
If you were raised and taught to be very careful with everything you do because of the way of life of people around you who tend to be very careful about every little detail in their lives, then you might always worry about getting into some trouble or doing something wrong because people, for some reason, would more likely remember your mistakes than anything else. It’s a good thing to be careful about what you do; but it also can be very tiring. That’s why people who always care about what others think of them try very hard to be or look perfect all the time.
Every mistake that you make will teach you a lesson, every time, without exceptions. People learn so much more from their mistakes than their accomplishments in life.
The funny and also a scary fact about a mistake is that, it will not go away until you take care of it. What I mean by that is, when you do something wrong, unless you realize it, you will keep doing the same wrong thing over and over again. That’s why it’s so important that you acknowledge, accept, and learn from your mistakes as quickly as possible!
Also keep in mind that mistakes are part of our lives. It is okay if you messed up, you probably will make many more mistakes in the future, and we all make many different types of mistakes as different individuals. The point is, you are not the only one, but you just have to accept your faults, own it and learn from it and try to improve yourself not to repeat your mistakes, and make sure your mistakes won’t hold you back. You won’t be able to move forward if you keep your focus on your past mistakes, self-criticism can only make you depressed. And do NOT let others hold you back by using you mistakes against you. Don’t feel less about yourself. Know that your mistakes don’t define who you are.
Here are 4 key things that you need to do in order to learn and move on from your mistakes:
1. Accept that you messed up and learn from it. You must be honest and acknowledge from your heart that you actually did something wrong without making any excuses.
2. Accepting fault alone is obviously not enough; you also have to learn from it. Find out why you did wrong and what you could have done to avoid it.
3. Forgive yourself, be proud, and move on. Don’t let your mistakes hold you back or make you feel less about yourself. Keep in mind that everyone makes mistakes and no one is perfect. Just love who you are, be proud of how far you have come, and keep your head up!
4. Make sure it never happens again. You have to reflect on your wrong doings and think of ways to make sure they’re never repeated. Be positive! As always, take care of your mental & physical health and stay kind and beautiful.
